Personal Goals

*One grade that I am very proud of this term and why.

I am very proud with my Geometry grade because it seemed a bit confusing but i got an A.

*What grade could I have done better on and why.

I think I could have improved on my Biology grade from a B to an A because i forgot to turn in some work that would have made my grade an A.

*One academic goal I have for this next term.

I'm going to try and finish my Economics book.

*Two overall goals I have for this upcoming year.

1) I want to graduate.
2) Be nicer to my friends because some say I can be a little mean.
( I think I am pretty nice to them though. )

*One goal I have for my child for the next six months.

I want my daughter to be potty trained.

{"Female minors [[Under 18 years of age]] must get permission before getting an abortion."}

I am undecided on Proposition 4.

First of all I hate the thought of killing both born and unborn children.

*I think that the parents do have a right to know if their child is going to get an abortion. There is a lot of things that can happen during and after an abortion: you could die from it by bleeding to death, sometimes something can go wrong and you won't be able to have kids anymore.

Life In Ancient Egypt - Being Born

* Wives were expected to have one baby after another.

* If a girl died before she had any children of her own, people thought she had lived to no purpose.

* When a woman was giving birth they were normally helped by nurses and midwives. ( In ordinary families, these helpers would often have been members of the mother's own family.)

* After they had their babies they would stay in the shelter for fourteen days. This helped to cut down the risk of infection because they were separated from other members of the household at a time when both baby and mother were most likely to catch something.

* If a baby died when, or soon after it was born it may have been thrown to the crocodiles, or left at the edge of the desert for hyenas to eat. The older babies who died would be buried under the house, wrapped in palm leaves or linen.

* Being a baby was risky and many did not manage to reach childhood.

* About half of all mothers died by the age of 40.

* Few men lived long enough to know their grandchildren.

The topic I read about is not much similar to how life is today. One of the things that was similar is that when the Egyptians had their baby they were helped by nurses and midwives.

This quote is important to me because it's true what he is saying. They have no right to go and mess with people that haven't done anything to them. They are living their life and it's messed up that other people can just come and ruin it. They aren't bothering other people so no one should bother them.

My LifE As A tAiN0/ NAtivE

On October 11, 1492 we greated Columbus and 3 of his ships on our Carribean Island. The ships carried 84 Spaniards, 4 Italians, 1 Portugues, and 1 African. We called our Island Guanahani but the spanish immediately claimed the Island was property of Spain and renamed it San Salvador. Columbus shortly realized that we didn't have any iron weapons and we could easily be enslaved. Clumbus was sailing around our Carribean Island for 96 days claiming and renaming the Islands for Spain. He misnamed us as Los Indios because the whole time he thought he was in the Indies. The spanish took advantage because of our poor weaponary and began to enslave us and kill us. They then began to scare us with dogs, horses, and guns because of what happened in the slaughter at La Navidad. Columbus forced us to build La Isabella and he enslaved 550 of us Tainos to be shipped to Spain and the spanish demanded gold for taxes. We tried to defend ourselves but the spanish would attacked us with dogs, burn us alive, they would throw our babies against rocks, or they would slaughter us. One of us was able to escape his name was Hatuey. He later led a revolt against the spanish in Cuba. He was killed but he was a hero to many of us.

MystEry oF thE rEd quEEN

Scientists discovered the remains of two bodies buried right next to each other, in Palenque almost a century ago. Both bodies were covered in Red Cinabar, which is red powder. They found out that one of the bodies belonged to King Pacal II. They didn't know who the other body belonged to so they named her The Red Queen since she to was covered in Red Cinabar. There were three posibilities of who the other body belonged to: Yol Ik Nal (583-604), Sak Kuk(612-640), and Tzabu Ajaw (626-672). Scientists thought it was Yol Ik Nal because she was the first woman to rule Palenque. She was a skilled leader while the men controlled. They thought it was Sak Kuk because she was the mom of King Pacal II. But it also could have been Tzabu Ajaw because she was King Pacal's wife. The Red Queen's body lived between 615-680, they then knew it wasn't Yol Ik Nal because she was to old for The Red Queen's remains. Then they found out that The Red Queen wasn't from Palenque. The only one who wasn't from Palenque was Tzabu Ajaw, King Pacal'a wife. The scientists did some research with DNA from the remains of King Pacal and The Red Queen and found out that the DNA didn't match meaning they weren't related. They then knew that it was King Pacal's wifeTzabu Ajaw.

I think it's interesting how scientists can find out who is who by DNA.

ThE PLAcE i w0uLd LikE 2 Visit : TEOTIHUACAN

Teotihuacan means Place of the Gods. It is located in the NorthEastern part of the Valley of Mexico and belonged to the Aztecs. Teotihuacan is the largest city in the Americas. I would like to visit Teotihuacan because it has the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. I would like to go and climb both of the pyramids all the way to the top. I'm scared of heights but I would like to try it out.

My EpEctAtioNs

My expectation for myself in life is to give my baby a good life.
My expectation for myself at school is to learn new things.
My expectation for my fellow students is is to help each other in all kinds of ways.
My expectation for my teachers is to have patience with all the students.
My expectation for my daughter is to make it to college.
My expectation for the nursery regarding my child is to give my daughter their full attention.

Problems and Issues: 1~> Racism <~ 2~>Stop Gangs<~
Objectives and Goals: 1*Teach everyone to see each other as one color. Teach that everyone is human and shouldn't be treated different. 2*Give gangsters better education so they won't have to get into a gang. Show them it's not worth it to get into a gang.
How To Achieve Goals & Desire Results: 1*Create schools & teachers that talk about race. *Equalize who's on T.V. 2*create schools to help students better to understand that they need to stay in school.
Type Of Economy: In my economy I would like for everyone to participate in the ruling. The type of government I would want is Democracy. I wouldn't want my revolution to be capitalist or communist, but a little of both. I don't want anyone to be too rich or too poor.

MoToRcYcLE diARiEs

The movie we watched on Friday, called Motorcycle Diaries, was very interesting. I learned that all over the world people have different problems. Some not so bad and some very bad. Che Guevara also learned something on his trip. He realized how in many places they were very poor. I think after he traveled his point of view changed. It was also nice how in some ways he tried to help people.

This past weekend, a lot of my mom's family went to her house to see my baby sister Isabel. My mom thought it would affect the baby if there were too many visitors because she is a preemie. Happily, it didn't effect the baby because no one was sick. It's better to have family that cares than family that doesn't care. My mom accepted a couple of very cute gifts from our family members. Inside the house were the adults and the kids were outside playing. We had lots of fun. The kids wore loose clothes when they were playing football outside so they could be comfortable. When I went outside and passed by them I seen that my brother threw the ball to my cousin but he didn't catch it because it went below his waist. My cousins thought they were going to lose against my brother's team but they won. All the kids were playing outside except for the babies. The guys cooked carne asada in the front yard. THEIR FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!! The adults led the younger ones outside to get their food then I had to lead them back inside through the living room to the kitchen to eat. I gave my baby a little piece of carne asada because I knew she wasn't going to eat all of it and I didn't want her to waste it. One of my mom's friend's came a little later and had a hard time finding the house. We told her it was where the big palm tree was. Once they found the house they commented that its hard to find. They're very good friends to my mom. Well that's how I spent my weekend.......

mY caNdidaTE

I chose HILLARY CLINTON as my candidate. I chose Hillary Clinton because:
*1... She believes in providing affordable health care.
*2... She also believes in ending the war in Iraq.
*3... I'm not to sure on what she's going to do about immigration, but what I've read seems okay.
*4... Hillary believes in making college affordable for everyone.
*5... She also says that she is going to help the new parents so they can take time off without losing their jobs. This is important to me because I know a lot of people that have a job and love it, but they end up losing it because they needed some time off to take care of their newborns.( which is not fair)
These are pretty much the reasons why I chose Hillary Clinton as my candidate.

mY poLiticaL parTy

The party that I would register as would be the Democrats.I think I would register as a democrat because of a couple of different reasons.

*affordable health care
*honest government

I believe these are some important reasons because we do need affordable health care. Everyone should be able to see a doctor when they are sick and not have to worry about paying a bill that will make your eyes pop out.

WriTing iN ThE simpLE pasT wiTh IrrEgular vErbs

This weekend was an OK weekend..On Saturday night I was supposed to go to a party with my friends, but something came up so my plans were changed :(. I went back home and watched movies. The movie that I watched was 187. It's about a teacher that got stabbed by a student fifteen times and quit working there. Fifteen years later he began to work as a substitute in another school. He was already scared because of what happened to him in the other school and in the school he substitutes at there are a lot of gangsters. He tries to help the gangsters, but the gangsters got mad at him for getting into their business. Then it causes problems with the teacher and the student and the gangster both end up dying. On Sunday I watched the CHARGER game and was very sad because they lost. I was also sad because LT didn't play. My friends and I had a little get together at my moms house to watch the game. Everyone had their jerseys on and we were screaming for the CHARGERS. We were sad, but the CHARGERS did their best.

FiRsT PaRT LAsT- FlAshBAck

FLASHBACK= a literary technique in which a scene of a movie, play, short story, novel, or narrative poem that interrupts the present action of the plot to show events that happened at an earlier time.

I think the author, Angela Johnson, wrote her story, First Part Last, in flashbacks because it makes the story sound more interesting. She probably also wrote the story in flashbacks because it's different than how most books are written. I like how the story was written because it says what he's going through and also what he went through at the same time. Yes, it's true that she could have just wrote the story in order but I think using the flashbacks makes the story more interesting.

Naming the baby...

Well first of all I don't like my daughter's first name. I named her ALYSHA because that's what her dad wanted. She has two middle names that were picked out by "mE'h".. AYANA IZETH. I found these names in this baby book that I had. I liked them so I picked them for my daughter. My daughter's name doesn't have any specific meaning. YUP YUP so that's how my daughter got her name!!!

ThE FiRsT PaRT LasT REadiNg REsPoNsE 1

My mom kind of knew I was pregnant because I hadn't gotten my period. She was the one that took me to the clinic to take the pregnancy test. OMG!! I was like so scared. I had a feeling I was pregnant but I didn't want to have that feeling. I mean come on now "ALEXIS" being pregnant???? No i just couldn't believe it. Well anyways I went in to take the pregnant test and I was waiting nervously for the results....
OMG!! It came out positive!! It was so hard to believe that it was true. I went out to where my mom was and wanted to act like nothing happened but instead I burst into tears. My mom was shocked, I know she was mad but she was very supportive. She told me not to worry and that what ever I decided to do was my decision. She told me she was going to be there for me.
My dad found out because of my mom. He was mad but was also supportive.
It wasn't that hard for me letting my parents know but....... its hard now that I have a baby!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!!
