WoRdZ aLivE

Yesterday we had "WoRdZ aLivE", we talked about a book we read called ENRIQUE'S JOURNEY. I have to admit that book was good. I didn't read the whole book but from what I read, Pretty Good. I recommend this book to all those readers out there. The book was about a Mexican Mother who left Honduras, where she lived with her two children and the children's grandmother, to come to the U.S. to work. She wanted a better life for her kids and she believed that going to the U.S. was the only way. It was sad how she had to leave her kids for so long. I would want to do the same thing for my child but I would always have the bad feeling that I had to leave my daughter. I would also have the good feeling because I would be able to send her the money she needed. Its a hard decision!! =( .....
The discussion we had yesterday was pretty good. We got to hear how everyone felt about the book. Also they were able to relate to the story which was kool...

LaS PosAdAs

Las posadas are fiestas that begin on the 16Th of December and end on the 24Th of December. In
Mexico, during this period, there are many posadas every evening,
Both invited and non- invited guests gather at a neighbors house where the Posada is going to take place, in the evening. They are then divided into two groups. One group goes outside the house with lit up candles and papers with the verse:
En el nombre del cielo
Os pido Posada,
Pues no puede andar
Mi esposa amada.
The other group inside then sings back:
Aqui no es meson;
sigan adelante
Yo no puedo abrir
No sea algun trunante.
The song goes on. When they are done they all gather at a house. They eat, drink and end with a pinata for the kids that is filled with candies and fruit. The usual food are : tamales, bunuelos, and ponche.

inez

In this story people stereotype Inez by saying that she is a bad mother. They also say she is irresponsible. I know that people stereotype me because I am a young mother. People look at me and say "Oh my god, she is so young and she has a baby." They might think that I am irresponsible because of my age. I know they are wrong simply because they don't know the real me they speak from what they see. I know I am a good mother and I don't care what people say about me. They could tell me what they think of me, but to be honest "It Goes In Through One Ear And Out The Other" because I know that for my age I'm doing a pretty good job. Everyone stereotypes someone, come on now it's part of everyday life. I know I'm wrong when I stereotype because I don't know the person but we all do it. We shouldn't but it happens. It's called LIFE.
